SAT Tip of the Day

Guessing Strategy

The SAT's scoring is designed to balance out the effects of guessing - that is, you should get the same score if you randomly guess throughout the test as compared to answering none of the questions.

Random guessing is time consuming and an obvious loser, but educated guessing puts the odds in your favor and makes a lot of sense.

It makes good sense to guess when you can eliminate answers you know to be incorrect. If you can eliminate at least two incorrect answers, the odds are definitely on your side. Guess from the rest.
